Police say one person is in custody after a 32-year-old woman was slashed multiple times throughout her body inside of a northbound six train Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the East 149th Street station at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. There they found the victim with cuts on her left arm, chest and lower back.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where’s she’s expected to recover.

A source tells News 12 a scalpel was recovered at the scene and was used to carry out the bloody attack. They also believe the incident stemmed from a prior dispute.

Police have one person in custody in connection to the attack, but they have not been charged.

The slashing comes as police data shows transit crime in the 41st precinct is up by 70% this year. At least 18 incidents have been reported this year, compared to 10 around the same time last year.

Investigators say the investigation is still ongoing.
