A Suffolk pub that was destroyed in a fire collapsed in Kings Park on Tuesday, according to fire officials.

The Kings Park Fire Department was notified of the building failure around 1 p.m. at the Main Street Pub. Officials said the vacant barbershop next door was also affected and was nearing collapse, with its facade already having fallen away.

According to fire officials, a demolition crew was inside the former pub earlier in the day when a support beam was removed, causing both buildings to collapse. Everyone inside was able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported.

Fire officials also said there are no safety concerns for surrounding businesses or nearby homes.

“It could have really hurt someone really badly. It could’ve damaged cars. There’s a bagel shop on the same side of the street. There are people back and forth all the time. Kids are on their bikes. It’s a blessing nothing happened,” witness Terry Hofer said.

Suffolk County Police Department said Main Street was closed eastbound at Church Street following the collapse.

Officials said the Smithtown Building Department has hired a demolition contractor to remove what remains of the damaged structures.

The Main Street Pub suffered a catastrophic fire just days before the Kings Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade last year. The building had been vacant since the fire and was undergoing demolition when Tuesday’s collapse occurred.
