Get ready for the potential of severe storms for your Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms become widespread late this morning and continue through the afternoon, making for a wet and unsettled day. Rainfall totals of up to an inch are possible, with locally higher amounts where the heaviest downpours occur. Expect periods of reduced visibility, ponding on roads and slower travel during the heaviest rain.
While widespread severe weather is not expected, any thunderstorm will be capable of producing heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds. Areas of lingering wildfire smoke may also create hazy skies early in the day before rain helps improve conditions.
The forecast improves quickly on Sunday as sunshine returns along with lower humidity and pleasant summer temperatures. Dry weather continues into Monday before another round of showers and thunderstorms arrives Tuesday and Wednesday.
