Two overnight shootings happen blocks apart in Mott Haven

Two overnight shootings happened less than an hour apart and just blocks away from each other in Mott Haven.

The first shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. near 515 East 143rd St. Police say a 28-year-old man was grazed in the right side of his head by a bullet. He is expected to recover.

Then, just before 11:30 p.m., police say another shooting happened at 2635 Third Ave. near the Patterson Houses.

Officers found a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back. He is also expected to recover.

Police say the shootings are not connected. No suspect descriptions have been released in either case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the NYPD.
