Tiny fins are making a big splash at SEA LIFE Aquarium at American Dream Mall, with the addition of five new shark pups.

The aquarium recently welcomed its first-ever baby whitespotted bamboo sharks. The pups were born recently at the aquarium. According to the Shark Research Institute, this type of shark prefers inshore waters and can usually be spotted around reefs in tropical waters.

"All five bundles of joy are now in their new Shark & Ray Nursery, SEA LIFE New Jersey’s first habitat dedicated to young sharks and rays," SEA LIFE said in a statement.

The baby sharks are giving guests of the aquarium an opportunity to see how sharks develop from birth. Staff at SEA LIFE began tracking their measurements and health as soon as they were born, and they will continue to monitor them as they grow and develop.

Whitespotted bamboo sharks hatch from eggs and are typically around 4 inches at birth. Adults can grow to be up to 3.5 feet.
