FORECAST:
Areas of patchy fog are expected to develop overnight into early Sunday morning, potentially lowering visibility for early Mother’s Day travel.
Mother’s Day morning will begin with plenty of clouds, but much of the day is expected to remain dry for many communities. However, there will still be a window for a few isolated showers or even a brief thunderstorm to develop between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. While not everyone will see rain, a few spots could experience brief interruptions to outdoor brunches, walks or celebrations.
Conditions improve heading into Sunday evening as skies gradually clear and drier weather settles into the region overnight.
There remains a slight chance for a stray shower Monday morning, but much of early next week is expected to stay mainly dry. Temperatures will run slightly cooler than normal for this time of year through at least the middle of the week.
Attention then turns to the middle and latter half of next week. From Wednesday through Friday, the Hudson Valley will see increasing chances for rain, along with the potential for thunderstorms Thursday. Forecast details, including timing and storm strength, will become clearer early next week as the pattern develops.
