A beloved Nassau County restaurant that closed after serving the community for five decades is getting ready to do it all again.
Carmela’s Pizzeria and Restaurant first opened on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square back in 1971.
The family-owned Italian eatery, which was sold and eventually shuttered in 2024, recently announced it will reopen its doors to the community on Friday.
The original owners from the Calia family are still involved, but say they're handing over the reins to extended family members this time around.
To celebrate, customers can come get a pie at a 1971-price of $2.40 at the soft opening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m on Friday.
There's also a student special offer from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The grand reopening is set for Sunday, Apr. 26.
