Detectives say a single suspect is responsible for the vandalism to 19 vehicles in Linden.

Police in Linden are searching for the driver of a vehicle wanted in connection to an overnight vandalism spree that damaged dozens of cars in Union County early Tuesday morning.

Detectives believe a single suspect is behind the vandalism to 19 vehicles between 3:30 and 4 a.m. at an apartment complex on the 1300 block of S. Wood Ave. in Linden. Officers later learned that similar incidents were reported in other areas of the city and in surrounding towns.

According to Cranford police, officers took seven criminal mischief reports involving vehicles with smashed windshields, similar to the situation in Linden. Police say the incidents also occurred overnight.

Meanwhile in Rahway, police officers responded to the Rosegate Apartments on East Hazelwood Avenue around 6:30 a.m. and observed at least 11 vehicles with shattered rear windows and cracked front windshields. Police told News 12 the damage appears to have been caused by gray, rectangular pavers as well as bricks.

According to Linden police, the suspect is described as a light-skinned or white man driving a dark grey Nissan Rogue. The vehicle has no visible license plate, chrome trim, roof racks and tinted rear windows. Police believe the same suspect may be connected to the incidents in all three towns.

Police in Linden, Cranford, Rahway as well as agencies in Middlesex County are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact Det. Nicole Andrews at (908) 474-8662 or via email at nandrews@lpdnj.org.
