A grand jury in Suffolk County has indicted Ruben Guanipa Ramirez, 26, for attempted murder, after prosecutors say he stabbed an acquaintance during a late‑night trip to Gilgo Beach.
According to investigators, on Feb. 28, 2026, Ramirez picked up the victim in Queens and drove to several locations, including a pool hall in Baldwin and Jones Beach, before heading to Gilgo Beach. While walking back to his car, Ramirez allegedly covered the victim’s mouth with a cloth and stabbed him, then attempted to slit his throat. The victim fought back, took the knife, and fled in Ramirez’s vehicle. He later called 911 and was treated at a Queens hospital.
Ramirez was arrested the same day after being found walking on the Long Island Expressway. Police say his car contained three knives, one appearing bloodied along with rope, duct tape, gloves, plastic sheeting, blankets, a boxcutter, and a large wheeled bag.
Ramirez was arraigned on March 31 on charges of attempted murder in the second degree and assault in the second degree. He is due back in court on April 29, 2026, and faces 5 to 25 years in prison if convicted.
