A weekend getaway is becoming more expensive for anyone trying to escape the snow or enjoy it for a short trip.

One traveler said the cost of the trip added up quickly, including an Airbnb stay and flights, even after booking in advance.

Circana's chief retail advisor, Marshal Cohen, said staying closer to home is one way to save. He said lift tickets for skiing average around $78 to $80 a day, and during peak weekends and holidays can run $100 to $150 a day.
Cohen said travelers can save more by buying tickets online directly from a mountain or resort. Multi‑day passes can lower the overall cost.

Hotel stays add another budget concern. Cohen said hotels average between $100 and $250 a day.
Food at mountain resorts can also be costly. Cohen said those meals average between $50 and $100 a day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Equipment rentals are another expense. Cohen said skis or snowboards typically cost $120 to $200 for a three‑day rental. Tubing often costs about $25 for a two‑hour session.

Some mountains offer full‑day and season passes that can reduce long‑term costs.
