If you're fed up with potholes in the Hudson Valley, you're not alone. Now, there's a push at the state level to help with the cost of the damage they leave behind.

"All my hubcaps are gone from hitting potholes everyday," says Donna Delano.

Delano drives all over Westchester County.

She says one of the worst roads she travels on is Route 6 in the Jefferson Valley/Yorktown area.

"I've popped tires. I'm not even exaggerating, some of them are so deep, the tire was leaning in it," Delano tells News 12.

We've told you several stories over the last year about state roads dealing with similar problems. Some of which have projects in the works for improvements.

Assemblyman Matt Slater has introduced legislation to help in the aftermath of those dreaded potholes.

"What this would do is allow motorists who damage their cars, whether pop their tires, bend their rims, any kind of sustained damage on a state road from a state pothole, they can submit for up to a $1,000 tax credit to cover the costs," says Assemblyman Slater.

Slater says this is a bipartisan issue. He and other elected officials have been pushing for more funding for improving roads in the area.

Delano who's in need of some hubcaps says she's all for a tax credit like that.

"That would be like a reward," says Delano.

Drivers are encouraged to report potholes on state roads to the New York State Department of Transportation. You can do that by calling 1-800-POTHOLE.
