2 NJ congresswomen introduce legislation to limit ICE’s power

Two Democratic congresswomen from New Jersey have introduced various pieces of legislation to limit some of the powers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Rep. Nellie Pou introduced a new measure aimed at stopping ICE agents from obscuring or removing their license plates. The measure is in response to agents manipulating their plates to hide their identities from public scrutiny.
Pou says these agents have been evading state transportation laws by removing, exchanging or misusing license plates.
Meanwhile, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman introduced legislation aimed at prohibiting the Department of Homeland Security from arresting or detaining anyone arriving or departing immigration court.
Watson Coleman says the Fundamental Immigration Fairness Act, or FIFA Measure, would protect due process and help promote trust in the legal system.
