Yonkers residents still digging out five days after snowstorm

Due to the bitter cold temps we saw all week long, the snow is not going anywhere.
As DPW crews worked to clear the roads, all the snow was getting pushed to the side, often blocking cars and driveways.
Yonkers resident Florina Prelvukaj let her car go untouched since the storm hit.
She came by Friday night to attempt to get it out.
"My car is literally covered in ice like we need to dig it out," said Prelvukaj.
All she had was a plastic shovel and it was no match for the amount of ice that had been built up over the week.
She wasn't the only one out shoveling.
Yonkers resident Fitzroy Campbell spent about an hour outside shoveling the sidewalk and curb outside of a church so people could have an easier time parking there.
Campbell says the ice has made it difficult.
"It's tedious, but you just take it one step at a time, one shovel at a time," he said.
This snowstorm has also left behind some messy road conditions.
"I get it, it's been extremely cold, but there's no excuse for the streets looking like this. It's a danger," said Yonkers resident Bernadette Stewart Hearn.
Those living on Texas Avenue in Yonkers say that while they did see a plow come by Friday morning, they don't think it made much of a difference.
During the day, the roads are all slush, which at night will turn to ice.
"It's a hazard for everyone. We're concerned about the area and the people that live in this area," said Yonkers resident Anthony Rocco.
Stewart Hearn said that she has made calls to city officials to try and improve their road conditions.
Yonkers DPW crews have said that they've been flooded with calls and just ask for patience and more time as they continue their snow removal efforts.
