The countdown is on to that massive snowstorm that's going to be impacting us across the Hudson Valley.

County officials are urging residents to take this storm seriously.

"We want to prepare you for a significant winter storm," said Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins has declared a state of emergency that could last as many as five days. Officials say roads are a big concern.

"Anybody can stay off the roads, even for the next week. This snow is not going anywhere," said Public Works and Transportation Commissioner Hugh Greechan.

Over in Orange County, County Executive Steve Neuhaus says it's 911 center is ready to go and will be home to local emergency responders.

"We are going to make sure that we have everybody here that we need to have to make sure that we respond and have what we need to help you out and help the public out if something happens," says County Exec. Neuhaus.

Officials have been urging resident to get their groceries and fill up their cars with gas and that's exactly what they've been doing.

"We got our food, but we went to a few stores. It was blocks and blocks and blocks of cars, we couldn't even get in," said Yonkers resident Billy Hess.

"Full take of gas, batteries are fully charged on the snowblower. The plow is mounted on the truck. We're ready to go," said another Yonkers resident Nelson Font.
