Neighbors across Westchester County were out early digging out after the latest snowfall, turning driveways and sidewalks into places of teamwork and community spirit.

In Hastings-on-Hudson, Michael C. was busy shoveling out his wife’s car, getting a helping hand from next door — and returning the favor.

“Starting to qualify as being older,” Michael joked. “So my neighbor helps me and I help my neighbor. I love it.”

Just down the street, Mark fired up a snowblower, clearing the sidewalk not just for himself, but for the neighbors and schoolchildren who pass by each day.

“The snow is light and it’s beautiful,” Mark said. “I kind of like clearing this sidewalk for my neighbors. The kids go up and down the street, and the school’s right there, so I try to keep it clear.”

While the storm didn’t hit as hard as some feared in southern Westchester, residents still had plenty of snow to clear — and plenty of goodwill to share.
