Gov. Kathy Hochul is responding to sharp criticism from Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano over a recent decision involving MGM to withdraw its application to the New York Gaming Commission and the Gaming Facility Location Boards.

Spano called the move "nothing short of a betrayal to the people of Yonkers and Westchester County" and said it "defies all logic." He is calling for an investigation.

Hochul said she is not aware of any reason to launch a probe and has no evidence of wrongdoing. “I think MGM probably made their own financial decision based on what their needs are. The process will move forward with the three bidders."
