Westchester businesses say they expect to see a positive impact from the 2025 Ryder Cup taking place in New York.

Although the Ryder Cup is taking place at Bethpage State Park on Long Island, golfers like James Wright say they are proud of the competition's connections to Westchester.

"Anyone who grew up in this area - having Cam Young on the team is pretty special," Wright says.

Cameron Young is a Scarborough native. His dad is pretty well known at Sleepy Hollow Country Club according to General Manager Paul Brock.

"David Young was our longtime director of golf here at Sleepy Hollow Country Club for 27 years. He is a legend in the metropolitan area as well," Brock says.

Brock says the family's ties to Team USA have sparked a renewed interest in golf, locally.

"We are extremely busy here, and all my colleagues around the area are also extremely busy, because it brings a lot of tourists and golfers and golf fanatics into the New York metropolitan area," Brock says.

Gov. Kathy Hochul says the event will draw about 250,000 spectators to Bethpage Black.

If Westchester residents can't make the trip, a watch party is taking place all weekend at Golfzon Social in Scarsdale.

Manager Ryan Kahl says the weekend will be a major maker for the indoor golf club.

"So, this is going to be a pretty good weekend for us. If the weather's not so great for outside, we will be do even better," Kahl says.

Gov. Hochul says the Ryder Cup with generate more than $200 million in economic impact statewide.

Once the competition wraps up on Long Island, Natasha Caputo, an employee at Visit Westchester, says she hopes tourists will extend their stay in Westchester.

"Fall is our season. This is apple picking season. This is [the time be in] the great outdoors. A lot of places, throughout the four corners of Westchester, have activities taking place," Caputo says.
