A man was fatally struck by a Metro-North train on the New Haven Line in Fairfield on Monday afternoon, according to the MTA.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. when a Metro-North Train scheduled to travel from Grand Central Terminal to New Haven struck a person west of Fairfield Station.

MTA officials said the man was not authorized to be on the tracks. He was identified as 22-year-old James Kim, of Fairfield.

An investigation revealed no one else was involved and no criminality is suspected, officials said.

There were no injuries reported among the approximately 130 passengers or crew members aboard the train.

Passengers were transferred to another eastbound train to complete their route.

Kim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Metro-North said there was no further impact to train service.
