Drivers who travel on Kearsing Parkway in Monsey should see a difference there sometime this year, according to the Town of Ramapo supervisor.
Supervisor Michael Specht says he's heard from residents not happy about its condition.
News 12 saw potholes, uneven surfaces and unkept landscape there Thursday.
"Hopefully, everybody will realize that it will be worth the wait," said Supervisor Specht. "It won't just be restored the way it was, the whole area will be a lot better."
The Ramapo supervisor says Blueberry Land Developers, which is responsible for the nearby new construction, will also be responsible for Kearsing and other improvements in the area.
He adds that beginning next week, the developer will work on a left-hand turn lane from southbound 306 onto Kearsing Parkway, an updated traffic signal, and sidewalks.
While Supervisor Specht does not know an end date, he hopes the work doesn't take longer than a few months.
When that's done, the developer will then repave the road and restore the center islands.
The project has taken longer because a hydrant and other things needed to be removed first.
News 12 reached out to Orange & Rockland about the road's streetlights reportedly not working.
A utility spokesperson says they are working to resolve that issue.
