The New York Yankees have changed their team's appearance policy to allow players to have beards as long as they are "well groomed."

The rule has been a part of the Yankees organization since 1976.

Artina Gashi, owner of Craft Barbers in Bronxville and Scarsdale, says the Yankees' policy will be a boom to business.

"I think that now people kind of look at barber shops. Women always had the hair, the nails, the makeup, so now the men have their thing, too, so I think it's great," she says.

Licensed barber Declan Cassidy, who cuts former Yankees player Harrison Bader's hair, welcomes the policy change.

"I think it's definitely a good thing. More players could feel free to express themselves and still have the beard. I think I speak for Yankee fans when I say at the end of the day, all we care about is just winning the next championship," he says.

Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner says the decision followed lengthy, one-on-one discussions with players and senior staff members.
