From spinouts to jackknifed tractor-trailers, accidents seemed to be everywhere in Orange County Thursday as drivers braved slick and icy conditions during and after the storm.

News 12 viewers sent images of some of the incidents, including two jack-knifed tractor-trailers on I-87 and I-84. Motorists say they saw accidents in their travels.

“I just came down from the Adirondacks and saw three cars off Route 84, a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles,” says Keith Shapiro, from Central Valley.

In Warwick, police say two people got out of a vehicle OK after skidding off Lakes Road and into a pond.

The slick roads contributed to roughly 100 accidents in Orange County since the start of the storm, according to county officials and state police.

“I came here like 45 mph down I-84,” says Matthew Ross, from Greenville. “Stay away from people trying to drive too fast.”

Another viewer gave us a picture of a school bus that they saw stuck in Chester and News 12 was on the scene of another crash while police responded to an incident on Hoyt Road in Warwick just before noon.

Authorities say the volume of crashes within a few hours was more than double the amount during a regular 24-hour period.
