One Hudson Valley author has released a memoir about his personal life, calling it a true story of survival, overcoming adversity, and finding purpose.
Mitch Rosen published his first memoir called "Columbus Day," which recounts his experiences as a 7-year-old boy sent to an institution in Brooklyn due to his mother's struggles with depression.
Rosen turned his life around after surviving an emotionally and physically traumatic upbringing. He also worked with the Port Authority Police Department for 26 years and was a first responder on 9/11.
Rosen says his book is about overcoming challenges and finding a way to help others in the process.
“Well, I want them to understand that just because they're dealt a bad hand in life, it doesn't mean that their life has to be stricken by that. They can certainly focus and do what's right and thrive," Rosen says.
