A Sullivan County man was sentenced to 20 years in state prison for attempted murder.
Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty says Darwin Banegas-Ortiz, 40, of Liberty, admitted to attacking three people with a knife outside the Star Bar in Liberty in July 2023.
Officials say Banegas-Ortiz attempted to cause the death of another by striking the victim in the neck.
Conaty called it an “unprovoked attack.”
