The snowy weather made way for some slippery driving conditions in Yonkers on Tuesday.

The conditions caused a construction van to slide off Glenwood Avenue and crash into a fence. A worker named Raymond said he was shaken up a bit by the incident.

"Yeah, it's the day before Christmas, I've got somebody's house that's got to have the heater put in it," Raymond said.

Yonkers police responded to the crash and said three cars were involved.

Frank Marino, a battalion chief from the Yonkers Fire Department, said one person also got hurt.

"Yeah, they went to the hospital," Marino said.

While News 12 crews saw an ambulance leaving the scene, one emergency response vehicle could not. Yonkers firefighters said their truck ended up getting stuck on the hill as they were trying to leave the scene.

"It's typical with this type of weather, you know, in Yonkers you have the hills, and anything can happen at any moment," Marino said.

City workers came to help clear the road so the truck could get enough traction to leave.

The whole incident made driver Mimi Lew especially thankful to have a car with four-wheel drive.

"I'm just going to go ahead and put it in snow mode and hope everything works out," Lew said.
