A heartwarming holiday mission is continuing at the Thiells Garnerville United Methodist Church in Rockland despite a setback.

The church's mitten tree, which collected winter gear for those in need, was stolen earlier this week.

However, the church is not letting the theft deter it from its mission.

Instead, the church is asking the public to donate gloves, scarves and hats for those in need.

Donations can be dropped off at the church's thrift shop on Thursdays and Saturdays through Jan. 26.

The Haverstraw Police Department is investigating the theft.
