Despite some Hudson Valley beaches reopening, several remain closed due to water quality issues stemming from heavy rainfall last week.

Harbor Island Park, Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club, New Rochelle's Hudson Park West Beach, Mohegan Beach Park District Beach, and Mohegan Colony Association Beach are currently off-limits to swimmers.

However, Playland Beach and Croton Point Beach have reopened after meeting safety standards.

The Health Department's beach surveillance program continues to monitor water samples, and closed beaches will reopen when bacteria levels subside.

The rainfall caused runoff from stormwater drains, potentially increasing harmful bacteria levels in the water and prompting the closures. Swimmers are advised to check with beaches directly for up-to-date information on closures and reopenings.
