Miracle League baseball game highlights inclusion and community in Westchester

A Sunday ceremony in Thornwood honored Purple Heart veterans for their service and their sacrifices.

The Hawthorne Medal of Honor Post 112 hosted the event that kicked off with a parade followed by the ceremony in honor of veterans who were wounded while serving the country.

Organizers said the event also honored the memory of past Grand Marshall Gary Belkirch.

Similar events are planned in recognition of Purple Heart Day, which will be on Oct. 7.
