A fallen tree was removed on Sunday – days after it first blocked Rockledge Avenue in Ossining.

Part of the avenue, between Liberty Street and Revolutionary Road, was shut down because a tree fell on it a few days ago.

Residents, like Michael Wyatt, said the blockage created traffic issues. He told News 12 that they were relieved to see crews removing the debris so they could reopen the road on Sunday.

"I'm very happy," Wyatt said. "Now I can drive in and out without any encumbrances."

Despite the update, resident Sebastian Toovey told News 12 that he was upset by how long it took for the tree to be removed. According to him, it was down for at least three days.

Toovey says the apartment building he lives in was forced to use a generator because of a power outage – and that communication with Con Edison was lacking.

"No understanding of how long we weren't going to have a road or when this would be fixed," Toovey said.

A spokesperson from Con Edison said they started working on the situation on Thursday. They added that the process was extensive because they had to take down an aerial feeder and bring a crane in to deal with the tree.

Toovey said he was happy that he doesn't have to think about the situation anymore.

"It's nice to get back to normal," Toovey said.

News 12 reached out to the village for a comment but did not hear back.
