Remembering Tom Diana: Yorktown bids final farewell to town supervisor

The community of Yorktown came together to remember the life of Town Supervisor Tom Diana.
A Mass service was held this morning at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and town offices are closed today as a result. It comes after hundreds of people gathered last night for his wake.
Diana began his career in public service after graduating from Lakeland High School in 1975, serving as Putnam County deputy sheriff. He transitioned through various law enforcement roles, culminating in his retirement from the Westchester County Police Department in 2005.
Simultaneously, he excelled as a small business owner and became an influential figure in Yorktown's government. Diana died of a heart attack just four days after he was sworn into his first full term as supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughters Megan and Brianna, their spouses, and grandchildren, Emma Marie, Gracie Lynn, Penelope Rose, and Daisy Row.
He was 66 years old.
