News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Addison Green says rain will move in Tuesday afternoon. Some northern parts of the region could see snow.

NOW: Dry and chilly today with highs in the 40s.

NEXT: STORM WATCH - Rain and gusty winds move in Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday. Parts of Ulster County will see an initial period of wet snow! 

FORECAST:

TONIGHT: Variably cloudy and cold with lows mostly in the 20s.

TUESDAY: STORM WATCH (PM) -- Dry to start with increasing clouds. Highs around 48 degrees. Rain develops after 4pm. The wind will pick up through the day, too. In northern Ulster County, expect an initial period of wet snow before changing to rain through the evening. A wet few inches of snow is possible in highest elevations of Ulster County. Elsewhere, this will be all rain. Ponding is possible overnight into early Wednesday. WIND GUSTS: 20 to 35 MPH. Check with your air carrier if flying Tuesday into Wednesday. If you are driving, be prepared for a slow-go Tuesday evening and early Wednesday. Lows near 42 degrees.
