'Troublesome Brook' torments Scarsdale street with frequent flooding
A street in Scarsdale is prone to flooding whenever it rains due to debris clogging a nearby brook, residents say.

Residents of Winthrop Lane in Scarsdale say flooding from nearby “Troublesome Brook” is a chronic problem whenever it rains.
The brook runs directly into an underground pipe on their street. Resident Jason Ali says during storms like Ida last year, the street floods up to residents' fences.
Part of the problem is debris that clogs a grate where the brook enters the pipe. Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner says the town is spending $2 million per year on flood mitigation projects to address the issue.
The town recently made improvements to the pipe system. But Feiner says more work is needed, including getting an easement to clean the drain from neighboring Scarsdale Country Estates.
In the meantime, Feiner says the town is studying Troublesome Brook and searching for long-term solutions.
