The FDA approved an antibody to protect newborns from RSV.

It binds to the virus and blocks it from infecting health cells.

The antibody is not a vaccine for the respiratory virus: it is given as a single injection before RSV season, which usually peaks in the fall and winter.

News 12 spoke with Dr. Harpreet Pall, chair and professor of the Department of Pediatrics at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

He discusses what the medical breakthrough means for parents.
