Twenty passport applications mailed from a Hudson Valley post office went missing.
The missing passport applications follow a spate of mail thefts in communities across Westchester and Rockland.
Piermont residents Fred Kusy and his wife Maureen say their daughter, Colleen, is one of 20 people whose passport applications got lost after they were mailed from the Tappan post office.
Colleen's application included her original birth certificate, Social Security number and non-driver’s license.

Kusy says the Tappan post office has offered little help and has no answers about what happened.
Rep. Nita Lowey is now pressuring the U.S. Postal Service to fix the rash of mail-theft incidents across the Hudson Valley in the past year, including in Yonkers and Bronxville.

Fred Kusy says an official at the passport agency in Stamford, Connecticut, told him once the applications leave the post office in Tappan, they go to a processing center in Pennsylvania and then Stamford. In the case of his daughter and 19 other people, that did not happen. The passport applications seemingly disappeared without a trace.
In a statement, the Postal Service manager for the Westchester district said, "We apologize to those 20 customers who entrusted their passport applications to our care. This isolated incident is not an example of the service we wish to provide."
Some other customers of the post office on Old Tappan Road say they have never had any issues.
Kusy says his daughter is waiting on the replacements of all her lost documents before she can once again apply for a passport.
