Two Yonkers police officers were rushed to the hospital Saturday afternoon after their cruiser was struck.
Police say the officers' cruiser was struck by a gray Hummer at around 1 p.m. on Nepperhan Avenue. The pair was headed toward a reported disturbance on School Street at the time of the crash.
The officer in the passenger side of the car was pinned, forcing emergency responders to work quickly to free him, police say. He and his partner were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. There is no word on the extent of their injuries.
The crash temporarily shut down the eastbound side of Nepperhan Avenue, between Morgan and School streets, as police investigated.
The Hummer's female driver was questioned by police at the scene. There is no word yet on whether she will face charges.
