Two teens learning to drive were killed Tuesday after the vehicle they were in was struck by a tractor-trailer.
Police say the truck hit a Chevy that was carrying a driving instructor and four student drivers at the corner of County Road 1 and Blooms Corners Road in Warwick. Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer was heading westbound on County Road 1 when he approached an intersection with a blinking yellow light and stop signs on both sides. The driver's education vehicle carrying the high school students and their instructor made a left onto County Road 1, and the vehicles collided.
All of the teens attended Goshen Central High School. Of the two teens who were killed, Paul VanDoran was going to enter his senior year and Antonio Baglivo was going to be a junior.
Lucas O'Connor, who is entering his junior year, and Claudia Krebs, who will be a senior and was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, were rushed to Westchester Medical Center, where they are fighting for their lives.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was also rushed to the hospital.
The Goshen schools superintendent says grief counselors will be available to students at the high school starting at noon Wednesday.
