The inductees are joining a long list of famous celebrities, activists and fellow athletes who have at one point lived in New Rochelle.
Hall of Fame Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera, who lived in New Rochelle for nine years, is one of the inductees.
Rivera restored the Refuge of Hope church in New Rochelle along with his wife in 2014.
Another inductee honored is Hall of Fame football pioneer Fritz Pollard, who was the first Black coach and one of the first Black players in NFL history.
Pollard lived in New Rochelle for over 20 years and died in 1986. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
