Ellenville police say two officers were assaulted during the arrest of a suspect in a domestic dispute.

It happened on Sunday at the Emerald Pond Estates.

Police say it was a fight between a father and son, and the son was holding a baby when officers approached him.

After getting him to put the infant down, detectives say Andrew Porter Jackson, 23, fought with police before being arrested.

The officers were taken to the hospital for a hand and knee injury.

Jackson was sent to the hospital for psychiatric treatment under the mental hygiene law and charged with aggravated harassment for making repeated calls from the medical center to the victims of the domestic dispute, in which he repeatedly stated that upon his release he was coming to kill his father.

Authorities say Jackson was arraigned and sent to Ulster County Jail, and an order of protection was issued for his father.
