Two men are being called heroes for saving a baby and a man from a pit bull attack in Rockland County.
Video shows a pit bull running to attack a 1-year-old child on Hoyt Street in Spring Valley Tuesday afternoon.
A volunteer for Chaverim of Rockland ran after the dog, grabbing the infant out of its jaws.
The dog then attacked a 29-year-old man, chomping into his hand, before the Chaverim volunteer and another neighbor were able to restrain the dog.
The man whose hand was bitten is still in Westchester Medical Center after having surgery.
Rabbi Yisroel Kahan arrived on the scene right after the attack occurred, counseling both the baby's family and the wife of the man who was attacked.
According to police, the dog is at Hi-Tor Animal Care Center and its owner has been identified.
Spring Valley police are investigating the attack.
