Police say two people are dead following a crash in Pelham Manor Tuesday morning.
They say at 9:15 a.m., a Tesla struck a wall at the intersection of Pelhamdale Avenue and Shore Road.
Pelham Manor police say two people, who have not been identified yet, were pronounced dead at the scene.
They believe speed might have been a contributing factor to the accident.
Gas station attendants on the corner of Pelhamdale Avenue shared photos of the fiery crash.
Some say they did not see the driver stop.
One worker described the crash "like a match spark," explaining that the second the electric vehicle collided with the wall and exploded into flames.
The flames rose to the power lines above, causing many of them to break apart.
After several hours, the remainders of the car were towed away.
Firefighters then worked to clean up ash and car remnants from the scene.
Shore Road, Pelhamdale Avenue, and Pelham Road were all closed throughout the afternoon for crews to continue working.
At this time, the police do not know what caused the crash and have not released the identity of the two victims.
"It's under investigation at this time," said Pelham Manor Fire Chief Michael Greco.
