As demand for COVID-19 tests soars around the country, Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced state-run testing sites around New York, including several in the Hudson Valley.
The two sites in the Hudson Valley include Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon and Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point. Both sites will be open Monday through Saturday beginning Jan. 4. They will offer rapid antigen tests.
Hochul said on Friday that making testing more accessible and convenient is a priority in the new year. It comes as New York sees a surge in cases of COVID-19. The 7-day average percent positive is nearly 18% - nearly double since Christmas Eve.
Lines at testing sites were very long as the holidays approached because more people wanted to make sure that they weren’t sick before seeing friends and family.
The governor said it will be easiest to get a test at the sites by making appointments. More information can be found on the New York Department of Health website.
