3 Con Ed employees die after testing positive for coronavirus
Three Con Ed employees have died after testing positive for the coronavirus.
The victims are Melissa Tucker, who worked within Con Ed's construction sector since 2017, Adrian Phillips who worked in customer operations for more than two decades and Joe Cardona, a business agent within the Local 12, the Utility Workers Union of America.
They say 142 employees have tested positive for coronavirus. Of those who tested positive, six have returned to work.
They say they have taken numerous steps to protect the safety of their workers, including suspension of some services, employees working from home, intensive cleaning at work locations, providing surgical face masks available to field crews, staggering shift times, and practicing social distancing including avoiding traveling together in vehicles.
