Woman killed in fiery single-car crash in Monroe

A house fire in Lake Carmel left two cats dead and a firefighter injured Monday morning.

The fire happened on Route 52 in Putnam County.

Fire officials said flames were coming from three windows when crews arrived at the scene.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Two cats died in the fire, officials said.

The extent of the damage to the home was not immediately released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
