Two women were arrested at a hotel in the Town of Newburgh on Tuesday after allegedly brandishing what appeared to be a firearm at two men and an hourlong standoff with police.
Police say Jolisse Gonzalez, 24, and Maria Santos-Arias, 26, both from the Bronx, pointed a pistol-style BB gun at two men in their car outside of the Newburgh Inn on 17K and refused to surrender from their room when authorities arrived.
Town of Newburgh police say the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group were called to help, and the women eventually voluntarily surrendered.
They were charged with menacing. Santos-Arias was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities say they were released on appearance tickets, as per New York bail reform laws.
