Two Bronx Catholic high schools are breaking away from the Archdiocese.
Cardinal Hayes and Cardinal Spellman will be independently operated and run by their local board of directors.
The Archdiocese says if the schools are independent it will allow them to be self supporting. But a union leader claims the Archdiocese is trying to break them -- creating labor issues at the individual schools.
Letters explaining the move were sent to parents Friday.
