2 bodies found in East River within 48 hours

So far, the NYPD has not confirmed any connection between the two incidents.

Two bodies have been found in the East River within 48 hours of each other, prompting ongoing investigations by the NYPD.
The first incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 2, around 10:51 a.m. The NYPD Harbor Unit responded to a 911 call about a woman in the East River near East 23rd Street. The woman, identified as 35-year-old Jessica Harvey from East 78th Street, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two days later, on Sunday, Aug. 4, around 9:36 a.m., the Harbor Unit was called to another water rescue near East 106th Street and the East River. This time, they found a 19-year-old man, Kareem Abdelkareem, from East 110th Street. He also did not survive.
The police are actively investigating both cases, and the chief medical examiner will determine the causes of their deaths. So far, the NYPD has not confirmed any connection between the two incidents.
