2 arrested in Poughkeepsie for stealing checks from mailboxes

Two individuals have been arrested in Poughkeepsie for stealing checks from mailboxes.
Police apprehended Jasiyah Shabeleh and Raheem Angus while they were attempting to break into a mailbox on Raymond Avenue on Monday. This follows several reports of stolen checks in the area.
Investigators discovered a significant amount of stolen mail in Angus' possession. Shabeleh attempted to flee but was later apprehended at a local hotel.
During a search warrant, police found 100 stolen checks. Shabeleh was already wanted for robbing a postal worker in August.
Additionally, police found $130,000 from the August robbery in Shabeleh's hotel room. Both individuals are currently in Dutchess County Jail.
