A federal agency is proposing fines totaling $8,400 stemming from a trench collapse in Rye last July.
The Occupation Safety and Health Administration cited 15 Bradford Avenue Associates for several violations. Two men were fixing a leak in the foundation of a Rye home when the walls of the trench gave way.
They were trapped for over an hour before being rescued.
Among other things, the company was cited for not protecting employees from cave-ins and not having daily inspections of excavations conducted by a competent individual.
