A 12-year-old was shot in the hand Saturday night at the Mullins Apartments public housing complex in Newburgh.

Residents told News 12 that the shooting occurred at the complex’s edge and they ducked when shots rang out.

The mother of City Councilman Omari Shakur, a resident, showed where a bullet lodged in her front door.

Residents say it’s the fourth shooting there in the last year, though violent incidents were rare before that.

The child was taken to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooter remains at large, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 845-561-3131.
