A 12-year-old boy is charged with arson for allegedly setting his father's Yonkers house on fire.
The multifamily home at 191 Saratoga Ave. went up in flames Saturday night and spread to an apartment building next door. The fire destroyed the home and it has been demolished.
A neighbor says the boy's stepmother found him in a walk-in closet, playing with matches. The boy's father tells News 12 that he works across the street and when he came home Saturday night, he found the house on fire. When he rescued his son, he says the boy apologized to him.
Police are not saying if the boy set the fire on purpose or if it was an accident. The boy's father says his son, who was visiting for the weekend, is very troubled and has set fires before.
