12 hurt in 5-car pileup on the Major Deegan

Two people are in custody after a multi-car accident that shut down a portion of the southbound Major Deegan Expressway. 
Police say that at least 12 people were hurt, including one person critically, during the five-car pileup. It happened near Yankee Stadium at around 3:30 a.m. 
According to authorities, the two men taken into custody are facing DUI-related offenses, but charges are still pending. 
Chopper 12 flew overhead as officers diverted traffic at Exit 5, hours after the crash. 
Those injured have been taken to either Lincoln Hospital or Bronx Lebanon Hospital. 
The Expressway has since been reopened.
